Patricia Ja Lee in Target Commercial

Patricia Ja Lee (Cassie from Power Rangers Turbo/Space) can be found in a new commercial for Target stores.

She’s sitting at an outdoor table at a restaurant with some friends as they all order drinks.  Right after she places her request, the woman sitting next to her requests a water, accidentally confirming for everyone that she’s pregnant.

The tie-in pitches greeting cards, specifically those for celebrating a baby’s birth, only 99 cents at all Target locations.

“Power Rangers” on “America’s Got Talent”

Way too much embarrassment coming up! Warning! On America’s Got Talent, the “dance” group “The Morphs” performed to Backstreet Boys in their spandex. Were they trying to be rangers or multi-colored putties? You figure it out!

Ron Wasserman’s Future for Power Rangers 2011 Season

Ron Wasserman (Composer for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) has posted a message on Rangerboard announcing that the new Saban Brands, LLC has hired on someone to arrange background music for the upcoming season of Power Rangers next year, and it isn’t him.

“Hello Everyone,

Well I just heard from Jonathan Tzachor that they have someone else doing the music for Saban’s new Power Rangers and I will not be involved in any capacity.

So, after so many years of involvement with the show, I think it’s best to put it in my past, be happy for all the great years I was involved with it and just let it go.

I sincerely wish big success and a long run for all who will be involved with the new production.”

Mike Chat Mentioned on Late Show with David Letterman

Michael Chaturantabut (Chad from Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue) got a shout-out from teen superstar Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob in the hit Twilight Saga movie franchise, during an interview with David Letterman on CBS’s Late Show.

While on the subject of his breaking into the business, Lautner had this to say:

“[My karate instructor] was actually the blue Power Ranger for a year,” Lautner laughed.

The Ranger-turned-teacher encouraged Lautner to start auditioning, which led to a few commercials and then the decision to move the entire Lautner family from Michigan to Los Angeles when he was 11. He soon landed a starring role in “The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D.”

David de Lautour on Dateline NBC

David de Lautour (RJ from Power Rangers Jungle Fury) can be seen extremely briefly at the end of a Dateline special edition, entitled Did You See That?, hosted by Chris Hansen.

During the last five minutes of the episode, there is a segment showing a speed dating session he is part of.  He’s shown just long enough for the audience to hear him say “I’m from Australia.”

Power Rangers 2011 Casting Sides – Red Ranger. Any Red Ranger.

Via Rangerboard, mikejonas informs us that the character description for Reese has been changed. Casting is still looking for their Red Ranger, and the description is as follows:

[RED RANGER - REESE] STILL SEEKING: Any ethnicity, male, 18 – 23 to play 17-19 years. Reese is an attractive young man with super hero looks and a slim athletic build, approx 5′10″. Natural leader, reserved quiet and mysterious. Martial arts a plus.

We previously reported that they were seeking a Caucasian red ranger, and now it has been changed to “any ethnicity”. Debates over this issue can now be cooled a bit. Glad to see that they’re widening their search, just find the right one!

Power Rangers 2011 Casting Sides – New Character

Casting for the new Power Rangers season is now looking for a villain named Juzo. Here’s the description and his casting side with Reese (Red Ranger):

Licensing International Expo Interview – Elie Dekel, Managing Director of Saban Brands

Elie Dekel, Managing Director of Saban Brands, was interviewed at the Licensing International Expo in Las Vegas, NV, and brought news to the 2011 Power Rangers season. The new season will be getting 40 episodes, not just 20, shooting in August, and will premiere early 2011. Dekel mentioned that the new season’s message will be about “healthy eating” and “healthy living”, and the season will bring back the humor and levity. Nickelodeon will be airing Power Rangers 7 days a week. (One would guess he meant 7 days a week between the new episodes on Nickelodeon and the old catalog on Nicktoons.)

Dekel also talked about the older fans and the online community, and then mentions the fan-run convention Power Morphicon. Watch the interview below:
