Kamen Rider Dragon Knight Cancelled

Steve Wang, Producer of Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, has made a statement on the show’s cancellation:

Well, it’s official. According to Adness Entertainment, as of Dec. 26th, [Kamen Rider Dragon Knight] will be cancelled by [CW4Kids] due to low ratings I am told. Because January is when they air new shows, they will not be airing the last 2 episodes of KRDK.

I have no confirmation whether they will post the last 2 episodes on their website or not. But I am sure someone will. As for my feelings about this? Well, it’s long and complicated as I have a little more insight about some of the behind the scenes, but at this point, I don’t think it really matters what I think. The reality is that the cancellation is confirmed. That’s not to say it won’t pop up on a different network in the future.

I also have no news about a new [Kamen Rider] series, but again because of the situation, I don’t think we will be involved with it anyway.

And no news of a DVD release either. I was told in order to release it on DVD, it had to have good ratings or no one will want to distribute it. As of my last conversation with Adness, they said potential distributors were waiting to see the results of the ratings.

So thanks to all of you that have stuck with and supported Dragon Knight. It was much appreciated! It’s been a fun ride and I hope some people were able to get some enjoyment out of it.

Blast from the Power Past – Thuy Trang Interview

This clip is from the documentary Encyclopedia of Martial Arts: Hollywood Celebrities in 1995. Thuy Trang was one of the many martial artists featured, and she talked about how she almost died as an infant, but it was the persistence of her mother that kept her alive. She also talked about how she got on Power Rangers, so check it out below!

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acIzMclRd8k[/youtube]

For those who are still unaware, Thuy passed away September 3, 2001 in a car accident. She was 27.

What Do Austin St. John and Jack Abramoff Have in Common?

I recently purchased Austin St. John’s Karate Masters instructional video, and I found an odd connection to the former Mighty Morphin Red Ranger. Jack Abramoff is notorious for defrauding Native American tribes and also involved many political figures in his cons and schemes. He’s currently in prison on three counts of felony.

So who would have thought that he’d be a Co-Executive Producer of Austin St. John’s karate video?! Granted, the position of “executive producer” is wide ranging, from being involved with every process of the production to just lending funds, and I’m highly guessing it’s the latter.

Too bad for Austin that Saban Entertainment produced the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Karate Club videos starring Jason David Frank before Austin’s own video was released. Rumors say that Saban got wind of Austin creating his own video, so Saban quickly pushed to get instructional videos produced under the Power Rangers brand.

AnimeTV Finds a New Home on Revision3

Johnny Yong Bosch was is the host of AnimeTV, an internet show all about reviewing the latest anime, anime news, and interviews with the industry players. A second season was promised for a while now, and it’s finally coming back December 10th on Revision3.

Phillip Jeanmarie Will Stab You To Your Face!

So maybe not Phillip Jeanmarie (Max from Power Rangers Wild Force), but Vincent Clarkson sure as hell would! The “hermaphrodite serial killer who had sex with his own uncle, raped his own sister, and then got pregnant by his own father” was named as one of the best villains of the decade by SoapNET, and they were right on the money.

Blast from the Power Past – We Choppin’ It Up!

Ok, so this clip isn’t too far in the past, but it does have Keith Robinson (Joel from Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue) doing an interview and they go into his Power Ranger past. And he really gets into it by creating a Power Ranger scenario and everything. Seriously, Keith should always narrate what’s doing down!
