1. So when Lisa talks about her friend who has kids, and the boy wasn’t allowed to watch PR because it was “too violent”, it makes my grin. Oh, I have heard this crap, and it bugs me. I ask the parent if I am “well-adjusted” or “have violent tendencies”, and they usually tell me that “this topic has nothing to do with me”. Well, it “does”, as I explain to them that I have been a fan for X amount of years, and it didn’t turn me into a violent individual.
I don’t know if the kid gets to watch the show in the end, but I don’t mind corrupting them just a little. I usually corrupt the older ones, even teenagers. I give them a pathway into the franchise, Super Sentai, and even Kamen Rider. If they think all of the above are “too stupid”, then I sent them on to GARO. [I haven't met anyone who dislikes GARO].
2. The Anniversary Toys. For some reason, I have never cared for the toys. So, I don’t really have too many. I did go online recently, and buy some older toys for a couple bucks. I won’t spend more than $15. I didn’t spend more than $5 this time. I guess I am cheap. But I am also being realistic. It’s not like I can display them or really play with them. It’s not really “acceptable” where I live.
3. I love Jake and the Yellow Ranger. I hope it is a Mrs. Fairweather and Keith all over again…(LSR).
SDCU added these pithy words on Apr 30 13 at 9:43 pmOk, so I randomly decided to listen to an NPS podcast through Facebook and found this comment. Synchronicity. I wasn’t looking for anything but here I am being anonymously mentioned. It’s not that serious but I feel like, what the heck, I’ll respond anyway. I have no problem with my son watching Power Rangers, eventually. At the time, I needed to guide his TV watching. If he’s gonna start Power Rangers, it has to be right. He watches TV enough. Our words “too violent” may have been used as a cop out to keep the TV off and have him concentrate on doing actual activities. As a lifelong anime fan who has watched some sentai shows before, I know the shows themselves don’t turn kids violent. I have no problem with him watching PR. But as his PARENT, I get to to chose WHEN he will watch it, especially since I want to watch it with him. ^_^
