I only listened to the first half of the podcast as I have yet to start on the comics… (well, except for witnessing the epic table reading at PMC).

I was told at a conference in 2017 that Hasbro had a studio, and they may acquire the Power Ranger’s brand. I thought it was a ridiculous statement at the time, as I could not foresee Saban Brands selling the franchise. Though, yes, from the failings at the box office of the first film installment, the future of the brand was very murky, and I was not sure where the franchise would take it from there.

After witnessing Hasbro’s attention to detail at PMC in 2018, I have some hope that this brand will be developed into the franchise that it CAN be. The toys that dropped in 2019, tell us that Hasbro is serious about rebooting this franchise. Though the ultimate litmus test would be the reengineering of the tv show. What will be done differently to win the long time fans, the current fans, and bring in future fans to the franchise?

Maybe they are molding Beast Morphers out of the success of RPM and are hoping that lightening strikes twice? I just hope that they do NOT market the show to small children, like Samurai and Super Megaforce was. Hasbro’s portfolio seems to point to a younger demographic. Maybe Power Rangers will be the Deadpool of the Hasbro Universe? (IE: Disney distributes to a mature audience as well. They’re not just purely for young children).

Film? No clue. There’s a blurb on the Hasbro website. They are probably keeping the door open for the possibility. Whatever keeps the fans talking, right?
