Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey Confirmed as Power Rangers Movie producers

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the successful movie producing team of Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey discuss how they came together, their numerous hits (and some misses) in the theaters, and their slate of what’s to come.  Bowen also mentions why he came on board for Lionsgate’s Power Rangers film.

When I was very young I lived in Japan for three years. It was at a time when there were probably four stations. All you could watch were Japanese-language shows, so I started to fall in love with Japanese superheroes. When I moved out to Los Angeles in the early ’90s, I’d nostalgically watch the Power Rangers, and it would put a smile on my face. Now I watch it with my 3-year-olds. Some of these stories were wonderful, and it’s exciting trying to update it for a modern audience.

Written by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, directed by Dean Israelite, and produced by Haim Saban, Brian Casentini and Allison Shearmur, this film is a development of Lionsgate and Saban Brands.  It will be released in theaters on January 13, 2017.
