UPDATE – 6/12/12

Here a follow-up question about Blu-ray:

NPS: Will we be seeing DVDs go to Blu-ray as well? Are there plans, even down the road?

Brian Ward: No plans for BD.  The masters aren’t HD compatible in their present state.  If Saban decides to go back and recut the entire series from the original film elements, maybe.  But I’m not sure I see the value in that, given the nature of 16mm film.  Even with an HD transfer, there’s going to be a lot of grain and visual pitfalls.  So, no, I don’t really see it happening anytime soon.

I’m so happy the box set will have slip cases. That would of sucked with nothing. I knew something was wrong when they posted that line on tvshowsondvd.

I would like to make a note that the ABC family airings and many of the Jetix airings did in fact have the Today On’s they must have been lost in the move to Saban.I watched every episode on Disney (I wasn’t born during original airings of MMPR-Turbo) The bloopers were also there so In like 6 years they were lost I suppose.

I can’t wait to get the DVD box sets. I grew up watching the show and my favorite episodes are the Ranger team-ups. Clash of the Red Rangers from PR: Super Samurai wasn’t what I expected comparing to previous team-ups, I watch the original Super Sentai version, Shinkenger VS. Go-Onger, and that’s what I expect from Power Rangers. Other than that, can’t wait until Saban release other shows in the near future like Beetleborgs, VR Troopers, TMNT: Next Mutation. Keep up the great work Nopinkspandex.

It sucks that we won’t get a HD transfer. I understand why. But 16mm film isn’t that bad. It’s equal to 1080p (a bit higher in res). The grain wouldn’t be bad. But the effect shots would have to be redone. Wasting even more money to even bother doing this.
