Original Music in Remastered MMPR

Ever since we learned that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is coming back January 2010, the worry came about whether the original music will be part of the show as well. Not only has a source confirmed that the original music will be part of the remastered MMPR, Disney is contractually obligated to leave the music in the show. So worry not any longer!

Ron Wasserman (Composer from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) has also spoke on the issue via Starpoints Rangercrew:

I just heard [Mighty Morphin Power Rangers] was a go. I was told there was a chance they’d want things re-scored a few months back, but never heard back. A friend of mine said they were using all the original music because Saban owns all the rights and there was something in the contract that would have prevented Disney from replacing the music. I’m not absolutely certain about this so I guess we’ll all find out next year.

if they censor the show like they did when they first ran them on abc family, I’m not watching. Same goes if they skip huge chunks/air only green of evil 8 billion times.

Have we ever actually found out what this “remastering” is going to consist of? Is it just going to be the “digital remastering” like they do to old movies when they’re released on DVD to clear them up, or are they actually going to be changing things?

I highly doubt there will be brand new footage. Remastering usually means cleaning it up.

The industry insider that broke the story on Digital Spy said they are using CGI.

I don’t see Disney using so much money to remaster all 3 seasons like that. They might as well pay for 5 more seasons of PR.

It’s been a good 16 years since the show first premiered on Fox Kids, and a only a good 7 years since it was taken off of the Jetix programming block which used to air on what was formally Toon Disney which is now Disney XD and on ABC Family, and they had to make some changes like cutting out the Dragonzord smashing the buildings since we live in a post 9/11 world.

And there is speculation about the reason why new episodes of the franchise have been halted, like the show was getting “too violent” for the people over in New Zealand where all of the seasons starting with Ninja Storm were filmed and shot on location until RPM was finished filming, and that the show is gonna have to move to another location for filming future seasons if there are going to be any, which I do hope there will be, seeing that having Disney re-broadcast the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will get an entire new generation of kids into the show that we all grew up watching as kids.

And you should see some of the negative comments that users on Youtube are making about RPM, especially from the ones that have absolutely no Godforsaken clue or idea that Power Rangers came from the Super Sentai series!

I just hope that the re-broadcast of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will be a “win win” situation for both Bandai & Disney :|
