Jason David Frank Wins Second MMA Fight

Jason David Frank is now 2-0, as he won his bout with Chris Rose on February 19th. Won in the first round with a TKO. I’m waiting for a match where Jason isn’t fighting a dude with their gut hanging out. Just saying!

The highlight of Power Rangers back in the day was that you got to see the actual ranger actors pull off great martial arts and stunts. None of this covering-your-face-to-hide-the-stuntie business. What we didn’t get to see a lot of were the actors who were martial artists doing their stuff outside of the show. How would we? Most of us were drooling kids, the Internet was AOL with its lovely modem noises…you get the idea.

Now, we’ve got technology to show us what our favorite rangers really can do. Sure, you’ll be able to see video of Mike Chaturantabut (Chad from Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue) doing his XMA thing, or Jason David Frank do demos at conventions, but is there video of any rangers showing their skills back in the day and then now sans Power Rangers? Enter Steve Cardenas.

The first video is from a 1996 tournament that Steve won. The second is from the gold medal Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu match at American Nationals 2009, which Steve won. Still got it.

Jason David Frank’s premiere MMA fight against Jonathon “The Mack Truck” Mack just ended. According to the play-by-play of The Cage Door, the fighters “trade punches. JDF fell down but recovers. Mack is dancing in the middle of the ring. Mack looks game. HUGE SHOT FROM MACK!!! JDF is hurt BAD.”

And the winner is…

Jason David Frank by tap out in the first round. The fight will air on HDNet either February 12 or the 13th.

Jason David Frank Working on “Four Weeks Out” Documentary

Jason David Frank was a guest on In the Cage with Adam Villarreal on 97.5 ESPN Radio in Houston, TX last night. He talked about his upcoming fights and the MMA industry, and answered questions from fans calling in the show.

Jason and Justin Trapp of Fighter Portraits also talked about the upcoming documentary Four Weeks Out. The premise is following Jason around as he prepares for his debut MMA fight. Three times a week, they’ve been filming everything from training to regular day-to-day life. The goal is to shop the documentary to TV networks, but they say there will be a DVD.

You can here the entire show below, and if you scrub up to the 1:17:40 mark, you’ll hear Jason talk about No Pink Spandex for a quick second!

Earlier, I mentioned that Jason David Frank will be making his non-televised MMA debut on Saturday, January 30th in Houston, TX. The fight will now be shown on HDNet. No word if it’ll be televised live, but for now, tune into HDNet on the 30th at 7pm.

I’ll be over here in the corner cursing out Cablevision for not carrying HDNet.
