Power Rangers Dino Charge will be returning this fall with its final batch of new episodes. In honor of that, I decided that now would be a good time to count down every season of Power Rangers from worst to best. Where does your favorite season land on my list? What does your list look like by comparison? I’m going to tell you the good, the bad, and the truly ugly that has befallen this storied franchise. I hope you’ll tell me what I got right and what I got oh so wrong.

The Blue Ranger

What he lacks in physical coordination he more than makes up for in brainpower, and with his more socially savvy best friend Jake at his side, these two make the perfect team. Sure, Noah may prefer studying up on the supernatural to engaging in battle, but the Blue Ranger’s fearsome Shark Zord is no sci-fi fable.

The Pink Ranger

Emma Goodall is totally in tune with nature, and always on the lookout to protect the environment. So when aliens start attacking her home planet, she takes it VERY personally. She may be sweet, but underestimate this BMX biking chick and you’ll find yourself at the mercy of the Pink Ranger’s Phoenix Zord!

The Yellow Ranger

Gia Moran is labeled as ‘Miss Perfect’, and it’s hard to argue that it’s the truth. Pretty, personable, and a powerful martial arts fighter, Gia is as intelligent as she is confident. She’s been best friends with Emma since they were little, and that’s not going to stop just because they’re in different social cliques now. The Yellow Ranger’s constant success can be frustrating to her teammates, but she and her Tiger Zord are dependable to the end!

The Black Ranger

Jake Holling is out-going, optimistic, fun-loving, and fearless when it comes to both the battlefield and social situations. He loves being the Black Ranger and saving the world with the help of his Snake Zord, but sometimes he wishes he could make his superhero identity public. His one weak spot is his huge crush on the Yellow Ranger, but he’s determined to make her fall for him one day!

01. Mega Mission (2/2)
When malicious aliens make their way to Earth’s orbit, Gosei decides to form a new team of teenage heroes to defend the planet and carry on the proud tradition of the Power Rangers.

02. He Blasted Me With Science (2/9)
The alien invaders send Scaraba, an alien scientist, down to Earth to study the human race and determine how best to defeat them. Meanwhile, Troy finds himself face-to-face with Creepox.

When one of Metal Alice’s robots malfunctions, Emma and the Power Rangers decide to adopt it and teach it the values of friendship and freedom.

17. Staying on Track
The Rangers must race to save the day when Metal Alice plots to throw the city into chaos by derailing a passenger train. Meanwhile, Robo Knight comes closer to understanding humans when he meets a young boy.

Admiral Malkor awakens from his cocoon stronger than ever and determined to destroy the Power Rangers.

19. The Messenger
The Rangers’ victory over the Warstar aliens is short-lived when they discover Metal Alice has turned Vrak into a powerful and menacing cyborg.

20. End Game
When Cyborg Vrak, Metal Alice and the Messenger launch a vicious attack against the Power Rangers, it will take all their powers and abilities to save the earth.

Power Rangers Megaforce will premiere on Saturday, February 2nd at 1pm on Nickelodeon. The series synopsis:

According to Henshin Justice, season 1 of Power Rangers Megaforce will be adapted from Goseiger and season 2 will be adapted from Gokaiger, which will “unofficially” be called Super Megaforce.

Fans have been buzzing about the recent summary of a Power Rangers Megaforce comic reader from Barnes and Noble:

A comic reader based on the new Power Rangers season–which also happens to be the 20th anniversary of PR!

For centuries, groups of brave warriors known as Power Rangers have been called upon to protect our world from evil. Now, the future of humankind rests in the hands of a few ordinary teens with one extraordinary destiny.

The 20th Season of Power Rangers will include flashbacks, weapons, and characters from previous seasons, and promises to be the most exciting season yet!

There’s speculation that Saban will use Gokaiger mixed in with the Goseiger adaptation. May I remind you that Amy Jo Johnson was a “special guest” in Power Rangers Zeo’s “There’s No Business Like Snow Business Part 1″ as a flashback. And don’t forget “Clash of the Red Rangers” from Power Rangers Samurai with perma-stuck-in-suit RPM Red. I’m not totally counting out cameos here and there for Megaforce, but let’s not get our hopes up, people.

The past few days have been a bit hectic with information and misinformation about Power Rangers Megaforce, so hopefully I can break it down for you with some commentary. Here we go:

1. Megaforce is using Goseiger for adaption because Saban isn’t skipping Sentai seasons. Why would they anyway? “Oh yes, let’s skip this entire season so that we can throw money out the window. No worries!” Gokaiger did make more sense for an anniversary season, but let’s be honest. The fans made this item more newsworthy than it really was suppose to be. I got caught up in the hype too because it was so “obvious” that Gokaiger was going to be used. It should have been more obvious to us that skipping seasons wouldn’t make financial and television production sense.

2. According to Rangercrew Media, Megaforce “will have an original story that is centered on five high-school teenagers. The concept sounds familar to the first season (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) [...], but the story will be completely new and original.” For example, “RoboKnight (placeholder name) will appear fairly early in the season.” As much as I’d like to believe that Megaforce will be different from the Sentai counterpart, I’ll believe it when I see it. We are still in the hype machine that is the Licensing Expo, to be fair.

3. Promotion for Power Rangers Megaforce will be in full swing starting with San Diego Comic-Con. Saban Brands will have a big presence there and at Power Morphicon with “MEGA” surprises and giveaways. (Yes, they said “MEGA”. No, I’m not making this up.) Megaforce will also be in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, so promotion for the new season will not be lacking. Disney could learn something.

They also state that a new Power Rangers series will launch every two years with a new theme. It looks like Saban Brands will keep to the Samurai route of having two seasons per one adapted Sentai counterpart.
