Walter Jones (Zack from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), David Yost (Billy from MMPR), Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam from MMPR) and Karan Ashley (Aisha from MMPR) were in Scotland promoting their appearance at the MCM Comic Expo as featured guests on STV’s talk show Live at Five.

In the interview, they discuss being part of such a lasting brand, what it felt like literally and figuratively to wear the spandex, and they even strike the iconic morphing pose. You can view the segment below.

MMPR Cast Lend Their Voices to Ford Overdubs

The Ford Motor Company has created a series of internet commercials they call Overdubs, taking existing media and recording new audio tracks that promote the merits of their automobile line.

The latest TV series to receive the treatment is Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, and Ford has enlisted the voices of Jason David Frank, Steve Cardenas, Karan Ashley, David Fielding (the first face and voice of Zordon), and Kerrigan Mahan (Voice of Goldar).

Power Rangers Movie Cast Interviews on “Made In Hollywood Teen Edition”

The TV series Made in Hollywood: Teen Edition broadcast interviews with the cast of Saban’s Power Rangers with reporter Kylie Erica Mar. The cast plays with the reporter’s Power Rangers toy collection growing up and have them sing the theme song.

The first interview was with Elizabeth Banks (Rita), the second with RJ Cyler (Billy) and Becky G (Trini), and the last with Ludi Lin (Zack), Naomi Scott (Kimberly) and Dacre Montgomery (Jason).

First up is the largest megazord in Power Rangers toy history. Retailing at $19.99 for each individual zord ($39.99 for Jason’s tyrannosaurus) you can build the Movie Megazord. However, Toys “R” Us has an exclusive offer that packs in all five zords at a twenty dollar savings.

Also available is the basic line of five inch action figures. I review the Target exclusive, metallic five pack of the rangers along with Goldar and Alpha 5. Each figure clocks in $9.99 a pop and Goldar is free in the collector’s pack.

nWay’s Power Rangers movie tie-in title has been revealed: Power Rangers: Legacy Wars!

GameSpot describes the game as follows:

Called Power Rangers: Legacy Wars, it’s a multiplayer fighting game that will feature villains from the long-running TV series. The characters seen in-game will be based on the versions seen in the upcoming Power Rangers film.

This time, it’s a black and gold version of the Dino Megazord that can be created by combining individual pieces packaged with each member of the Mighty Morphin’ team. Coming in at a price of $40, this limited to 500 figures item is a surefire rarity.

Speaking of the new legacy collection line of action figures, the first wave is currently hitting shelves across the country and it includes both the Red and Green Rangers from Mighty Morphin’ and all three Wind Rangers from Ninja Storm. Priced at $19.99, these figures have only been seen in Target as of the writing of this article but they should soon be available at all major retailers.

Bryan Cranston has been making news lately as being cast as Zordon in the Power Rangers film premiering March 2017. He has already spoken of his motion caption work for the film, but in the following clip of Larry King NOW on Ora TV, he rattles off ranger colors appearing:

He mistakenly left out pink but mentioned green. Is the Green Ranger going to appear in the film or was this just a flub on Cranston’s part? The jury is still out.

While the movie version of the Power Morpher and the Legacy Communicator are still in the pipeline, the Legacy Falconzord has recently hit the shelves. Retailing for $59.99, this collectible sports the same die cast metal and increased details that separate it from the original 1995 release.

Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger Mecha Review

Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger is the 40th anniversary installment in the Super Sentai franchise. Over on my Youtube channel – Captain Subpar’s Toy Reviews – I’ve been giving the mecha for the series a once over including my first impressions, thoughts on the overall designs for the series, and musings on what’s to come.

Every season needs a theme and this one is no different. All of the rangers’ mechas are animal-themed cubes that stack on one another in groups of three. The main robo is built from the Red (eagle), Blue (shark), and Yellow (lion) Ranger’s mecha with the Green (elephant) and White (tiger) Ranger’s mechas being interchangeable additions. A giraffe-themed bazooka is also available.

Charges Dropped Against Rick Medina for Roommate’s Death

On Sunday, February 1, 2015, TMZ broke the story about Rick Medina a.k.a. Ricardo Medina, Jr. (Cole from Power Rangers Wild Force) being arrested for stabbing his roommate Joshua Sutter in the stomach with a sword after an altercation:

According to law enforcement … Medina retreated to his bedroom with his girlfriend — but Sutter forced his way into the bedroom … and that’s when Medina allegedly stabbed him once in the abdomen with the sword.

Medina called 911 and waited for for cops to arrive. He was arrested and booked for murder. Sutter was transported to a hospital … where he was pronounced dead.

ABC7.com is now reporting that the charges against Medina for murder were dropped today and the district attorney is requesting further investigation. Medina was released today at approximately 1:00 PM PT.

The Shortest Short film ever. Cowboys vs. Samurais. It took over five years to finish this. Arnie Peterson was the Director of Photography. He shot well over an hour of footage in what resulted in a 60 second piece. Two of the original power rangers are in it- Austin St. John, Walter Jones and “Bulk” Paul Schrier. Blast from the Power Past – Jason David Frank Morphs Back Into Action!

We have a saying over here at No Pink Spandex: Stay away from the spandex. It doesn’t breathe. Don’t ask me how I came up with it, but it just seemed apt for what we usually cover on the podcast and on this site. We talk about the current show but we also keep up with what the Power Ranger alums are doing. 9 times out of 10, they’re not in spandex. They’re wearing regular clothes doing regular things. Not Jason David Frank. This man is not afraid of the spandex. This man wears the spandex like a badge of honor, thrusting his colorful shapes at you. This man has balls.

Let’s put this in context. This past weekend, Jason had a boot camp of the Ranger persuasion. Eight adults paid a ton of dough to train with him and they had a damn good time. One of them brought their Green Ranger cosplay suit along. The rest is history. According to Jason, it’s been 8 years since he’s worn any Power Ranger suit. Folks at home who are good with math will calculate that back to the Dino Thunder days.

And of course, you have to round things off with some putty-esque butt-kicking…only with your boot camp students!

I think it’s very cool of Jason getting back in the spirit of his Ranger days and donning the spandex once again. Who’s next? Steve Cardenas? Walter Jones? Johnny Yong Bosch? Next convention appearance, make that happen!
