John Tui in “Battleship”

John Tui (Doggie Cruger from Power Rangers SPD, Daggeron from Power Rangers Mystic Force) can be seen in the new movie Battleship starring Liam Neeson and Rihanna. He plays Chief Petty Officer Walter ‘The Beast’ Lynch, and this isn’t some background role. Check out his interview with the New Zealand program Tagata Pasifika below. Battleship opens in theaters May 18th in the US.

Matt Austin Auctioning Off SPD Red Ranger Suit

Matt Austin (Bridge from Power Rangers SPD) is raising funds to shoot his newest film One Day You Will Paint a Sunset. One of the ways he’s raising funds may be beneficial to you.

He’s currently auctioning off on eBay his SPD Red Ranger suit that he used on Operation Overdrive’s “Once a Ranger” teamup. It’ll be signed by Matt and Brandon Jay McLaren (Jack from Power Rangers SPD).

You have until Tuesday, June 28th, 2011 to own this rare item. Good luck!

Amy Jo Johnson Filmed Judy Blume’s “Tiger Eyes”

This past October, Amy Jo Johnson filmed the movie Tiger Eyes, Judy Blume’s adaption of the book about a 15-year-old girl coping with the death of her father. Amy will be playing Gwen. The movie will premiere in 2011 on DVD.

Plans for New Power Ranger Movie?

With Haim Saban’s recent reacquisition of Power Rangers, there are now talks of Power Rangers returning to theaters with a new feature film. There have always been movie rumors, but Saban seems really energized with attaining Power Rangers once again.

Disney, on the other hand, thought Power Rangers didn’t “fit in [their] long-term programming strategy or with the Disney brand,” said Disney spokesman Jonathan Friedland.

David Yost Filming “Degenerate”

There isn’t much information about this indie film Degenerate, but there is a trailer. And if you had the sound off, you wouldn’t know that David Yost was anywhere near this. With black hair and goatee, he plays Marcus, a punk with his three friends who “flee the city after a night of violence. Seeking refuge in the Arizona desert, they will find that their friendships can only stretch so far.”

The film is marked on IMDB as being “in production”. Who knows if this will ever see the light of day. But again, there is a trailer:

Adelaide Kane (Tenaya 7 from Power Rangers RPM) will appear in the TV movie Secrets of the Mountain premiering Friday April 16th at 8pm ET on NBC (sponsored by Walmart). Speaking of Walmart, they’ve got a web page dedicated to all the behind-the-scenes action with the stars of the movie, and Adelaide is all over this thing. Seriously, if you’re an Adelaide fan, you’ll be eating this all up. Here’s a clip:

Jason David Frank Filming “The One Warrior”

Jason David Frank is currently in Alabama filming a fantasy/action film called The One Warrior for 20 days. Jason as The One Warrior “finds himself in a mythical world where he must destroy the Evil Lord Shoukata, but to do so he must first fight his way through many challenges. Ones that include dragons, the cursed swords of Damacleus, the Samurai Six, the Amazon Warriors and much, much more. And with each level he passes through the more powerful he becomes, until finally at the end we find out that it is really a man who has been testing a new video game. Or was it? The truth may never be known”.

Adam Tuominen (Hunter from Power Rangers Ninja Storm) recently filmed an indie film called I, Rot. The synopsis: Meet Pete Waterman, The Most Rotten Man Alive. (Adam’s not Pete Waterman, by the way. Johnny Yong Bosch Filming “Love Like Bullets”

Johnny Yong Bosch is filming a new film Love Like Bullets, a shoot-em-up in which “a hired assassin risks his life to protect a beautiful young prostitute who has captured his heart”. The screenplay is written by Johnny himself, and directed by David Wald (Stunt Actor from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie – Power Rangers Wild Force). Below are pictures from the set:

Jason David Frank Working on “Four Weeks Out” Documentary

Jason David Frank was a guest on In the Cage with Adam Villarreal on 97.5 ESPN Radio in Houston, TX last night. He talked about his upcoming fights and the MMA industry, and answered questions from fans calling in the show.

Jason and Justin Trapp of Fighter Portraits also talked about the upcoming documentary Four Weeks Out. The premise is following Jason around as he prepares for his debut MMA fight. Three times a week, they’ve been filming everything from training to regular day-to-day life. The goal is to shop the documentary to TV networks, but they say there will be a DVD.

Keith Robinson in “Dear John”

Keith Robinson (Joel from Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue) is in the new film Dear John as Captain Stone, who serves alongside Channing Tatum’s character. The movie will be premiering February 5th.

Jason David Frank and Johnny Yong Bosch Working Together Again

Ikkicon 2010 reunited Jason David Frank and Johnny Yong Bosch over the New Year’s weekend, and with a new year comes potential new projects. Both are working on a new movie together called Blue Sun which will start filming in February. They’re also talking about having Jason featured in Eyeshine’s next music video (Johnny’s band).

According to Jason, details still have to be worked out. Work ‘em out, boys!

Blast from the Power Past – Thuy Trang Interview

This clip is from the documentary Encyclopedia of Martial Arts: Hollywood Celebrities in 1995. Thuy Trang was one of the many martial artists featured, and she talked about how she almost died as an infant, but it was the persistence of her mother that kept her alive. She also talked about how she got on Power Rangers, so check it out below!

For those who are still unaware, Thuy passed away September 3, 2001 in a car accident. She was 27.
